Being Church

Building Community

Being a community means looking after one another, that’s what a church should be about. Everyone is needed and valued and all have a unique part to play in order to maintain a healthy, vibrant and active presence.  Illogan is a great place to be. We want to bring people together inside and outside the church. Church should be the greatest community on earth, a place where people belong and want to belong. This is what we do.

Hardship Fund

Grapevine has a small hardship fund to help local people facing financial hardship or personal difficulties which can be helped by a little financial support. To make an application, just send us an e mail marked ‘Hardship Fund’ to gccoffice@btinternet.com  with a short explanation of your reasons for the application.

Groups
Alpha explores the Christian faith. It’s a great opportunity to ask anything in a relaxed, informal environment. It’s time to explore.

For more details contact us at gccoffice@btinternet.com or Tel: 01209 842213
If an evening is just not feasible for you, but you could make an afternoon or join an Alpha online, let us know.

We’ll see if we can put one together.

Fancy a bit of fun and fellowship on a bike?

Grapevine now has a cycling group for all ages. The aim is to go out on regular fun-filled cycle rides, drop into a café on the way for a snack and a chat, and learn a bit about bike maintenance as well. It’s open to anyone. Why not join in and bring your friends? Contact us for more details gccoffice@btinternet.com

Every Saturday at 9.30am. Ask for Mike Thorn. Join the Grapevine Cycle group on Facebook.

Everyone is invited to the mid-week discussion groups to explore the Bible and how its teaching applies in a practical way to everyday life. These are valuable spaces for discussion and prayer. They provide the opportunity and space for people to really get to know and support each other. Opportunities to create more home discussion groups in order to accommodate as many people as possible are always welcome. It’s good to meet together. We use a wide range of materials and courses for these sessions.

Open Doors Coffee morning runs every Friday between 10.00 and 12.00 at the church and volunteers are there to provide you with as much, tea, coffee toast and biscuits as you can take! The idea is simple, we want to give local people the opportunity to meet and have a chat, make new friends, and just get out the house for a few hours. It won’t cost you a penny.
Why not come and join us for some arts and craft at Vinecrafts – every Thursday? It doesn’t matter how skilled you are. This is a good time to make friends and and have a go at some new arts and crafts. Plenty of time to get together, chat and share ideas. We are having such a great time that many of us bring a packed lunch along as well.
Our Grapevine Hoop Group meets every Monday evening from 18.00-19.00 for gentle exercise and dance using hoops. This is an adult group and is brilliant fun. It’s so great for meeting others. Don’t worry about how much experience you have, it doesn’t matter – just come along and join in – there’s no pressure. We’ve got the hoops here so feel free to come along and have a go. There’s no charge for this.

Interested in movement and dance to worship, at whatever level? Then why not come along to “Joy” – our new movement to worship group on Saturdays – 10.30am at the church? Go on, get your body moving!

Ministries
Times are really tough and difficult for many at the moment. Sometimes it’s just so hard to cope financially. So, Grapevine has put a small fund together for those in genuine financial crisis. All applications are by email to gccoffice@btinternet.com
Every few weeks we’re out and about meeting and greeting the people of Illogan on the street. Why not stop us for a chat? We just want to show the love of Jesus and tell you what church means to us. If you would like us to pray for you, or someone you know, please ask us. We’re always here for you. See you out and about!
Do you know someone who needs a visit or a little bit of encouragement? We can organise a small gift bag for you to take. People are genuinely blessed by knowing that someone cares, is thinking about them, and praying for them. We include a range of small items in our gift bags along with some words of encouragement.
We are very happy to make home visits for anyone who would like or needs one. Just let us know and some of our team members will arrange a visit and maybe bring a gift bag. Everybody thrives on genuine and practical encouragement, it builds people up and blesses.
Everything begins with prayer so we encourage and teach everyone to pray as part of their spiritual disciplines and to be part of prayer events whenever possible. There are plenty of opportunities to pray – we just need to be creative. Anyone can join in the weekly prayer meetings or make a request.

We meet every Saturday at 7.30am to pray – with refreshments afterwards.

Few of us go through life without needing some support in times of testing, dealing with emotions, or just relationships with people. This is when the simple act of drawing alongside a person can be most helpful. This is part of church and our pastoral team can help. They are there to pray, assist, encourage and help.Insert content here
